The Upper Valley Meetup will have a public event focused on energy on Feb 8th. The event will be at the Lebanon Opera House, and will include a screening of the film "An Inconvenient Truth" Al Gore's film about global warming. Cost will be $5/ticket ($3/student). Doors will open at 6pm, the movie will be at 7pm and intermission will be at 8 pm. The goal is to have an event that gives people ideas on concrete actions they can take to fight global warming and promote energy independence. Later in Feb we plan to follow up with a panel discussion on energy.

Before the film, during intermission and afterwards we will showcase local businesses, non-profits, and civic groups that have products/activities related to energy. (For example, White River Toyota is signed on as a major sponsor). We will have tables set out in the Opera House lobby and around the City Council chambers for people to browse through.

Fantastic. Would it be possible to post a link to the Carbon Coalition www.carboncoalition.org?

We'll alert UV volunteers to the Feb 8 event.

As of today more than 100 towns will present a climate change resolution - calling for actions by congress and the next president - on town warrants in March. Audubon, NHPIRG, AMC, Clean Air Cool Planet, SPNHF, Sierra, North Country Council, the Valley News, Lincoln-Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and the Mt Washington Valley Economic Council are among the institutions publicly supporting the resolution, wich also encourages the town to form a volunteer energy committee to seek ways to reduce emissions & save energy. The full text of the resolution can be found on the Carbon Coalition website.
